Administrative / biographical background:

These schools opened in 1875, built partly at the expense of the L N W Railway Co and partly by subscriptions collected by the Rev John Ashe, who also provided the site W H Chaloner The Social and Economic Development of Crewe 1780-1923.

 

In 1924 the infants were transferred to Hightown Council Infants School. The Hightown Council Boys' School closed in 1924 and the boys transferred to other schools.

 

In 1932 the school was reorganised as an infant and junior mixed school. The senior boys and girls were transferred to the newly-opened Ludford County Secondary School
